Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] rubynye: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.

Oh right! It's like I chopped up a bunch of veggies, put them in the fridge, and now I should really make dinner. )
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Angela: idk my bff HRG?)
I've been recovering from my [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang sprint, hence the lack of posting. But I am working on a few things, including possibly a Kirk/McCoy, Pike/McCoy thingy. Oops? But in the meantime, a meme!

Describe yourself: Company Man
How do you feel: A Clear and Present Danger
Describe where you currently live: Brave New World
If you could go anywhere where would you go?: Into Asylum
Your favorite form of transportation: Run!
Your best friend is: Kindred
What's the weather like: The Butterfly Effect
Favourite time of day: Seven Minutes to Midnight
If your life was a TV show, it would be called: Out of Time
What is life to you: Fight or Flight
Your fear: The Dying of the Light
What is the best advice you have to give: Don't Look Back
Thought for the day: How to Stop an Exploding Man
How I would like to die: Close to You
My soul's present condition: The Hard Part
My motto: Turn and Face the Strange

How to do this meme: Using only EPISODE names from ONE TV SHOW, cleverly answer these questions. Try not to repeat an episode title. It’s a lot harder than you think! Repost as "My life according to (show)".

Come on, I wanna see someone do one with TOS episodes! Or Buffy episodes! Or Firefly! Or Veronica Mars! Or Lost!
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Chris Pine: Smokin Aces)
A fic meme from [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl. Wow, the meme:fic ratio has really gone up recently, eh?

Post the first lines from your last 20 stories. Do you see a pattern?

Twenty first lines. )

Things I noticed... I am fond of short sentences, and one-word sentences in particular.

Also, dialogue. Lots of dialogue. Which makes sense. My fics almost always have a ton of dialogue in them, and it's almost always the first thing I write. I'm a little embarrassed that some of these are not so snappy, significant, or important. First lines and last lines are important, damnit, and they should be excellent little jewels on their own! Most of these, not so much. Though I gotta say, still fond of #4, which is the opening line of this fic. It was the first line I wrote, which is saying something; it's rare for me to start at the beginning.

So, do the meme! Show me your first lines!
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Misc: Exit left)
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).
6. Tag five people.

Back to the classics. )
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (ST: Kirk isn't listening)
Remember a while back when I posted 30 randomly shuffled songs for you to guess? Well, ya did pretty well: 16 out of 30 were identified. More than half! Good job!

Now here are the ones you missed: )

Yet another icon meme, passed along by [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl.

Rules
1. Reply to this post with "ICONS!", and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!

1. This is a reference to a stage direction from Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale: "Exit, pursued by bear." Theatre nerds represent! Also, this is a good option to keep in mind when you're not sure how to end a scene.

2. Disney's version of Robin Hood is the one of the seminal cartoons of my childhood. That talking rooster is the shit. And Oo-De-Lally gets stuck in your head really easily. Like now. *hums*

3. This is a duck. In bondage gear. I figure this represents my complete and utter shame at corrupting seemingly innocent things like Peter Petrelli and Pavel Chekov.

4. Speaking of seemingly innocent things! Pavel Chekov is the most adorable chibi in the world. I mean, he's kind of a live-action chibi, so it's not much of a stretch to illustrate him that way. But how can you not be affected by that level of squee?

5. Nathan Petrelli, how I miss you. One of my favorite things about him was his arrogance. Just look at that sneer. Yeah, he sells it even from five foot eight.

6. No character on that show was displaying anything approaching logical sense at that point in the season (and many points before and after). They deserve(d) to be mocked. Mercilessly. I also use the icon when I need the help of my magic f-list's crazy knowledge!

Okay, now you try!
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Bennet and Sylar: Drivers picks the musi)
Hey ya'll! Long time no see. I am still alive, and still writing. I took another writing class last week (no, not nearly as entertaining as the previous one). What's up with you?

In other news, the Remix Redux 2010 archive is now open! It includes more than 200 stories in a variety of fandoms, including kick-ass Heroes and Star Trek offerings. I can't tell you what story I remixed yet, but rest assured I'll post it here when it's time for the reveal!

And now for some music memery stolen from [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl

Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing. Skip the instrumental-only pieces (non-English too if you want).
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and title correctly. (If it's a cover, the original artist is okay, and vice-versa.)
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like this game, post your own!

1. "You can do this, Hunter. Stop forcing ideas. That shit is no fun."
2. "I was driving up from Tampa when the radiator burst. I was three sheets to the wind; a civilian saw me first."
3. "Have they all gone? Yes, it's [title of song]! No more writers to whine, now it's my turn to shine." [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat got Neil's Turn from Commentary! The Musical.
4. "One evening for pleasure I ramble on the banks of some cold purling steam. Sit down on a bed of primroses and I gently fell into a dream." [livejournal.com profile] maireadinish got Ireland's Green Shore, Tim O'Brien.
5. "Once I had my heroes. Once I had my dream. But all of that is changed now."
6. "Let me run with you tonight. I'll take you on a moonlight ride."
7. "House up in Clear Lake where I used to live. Picked the lock on the front door and felt it give." [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got Genesis 3:23, The Mountain Goats
8. "Hey little sister what have you done? Hey little sister who's the only one?" [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got White Wedding by Billy Idol (actually I was listening to the cover by The Harvey Girls)
9. "When you walk through a storm keep your chin up high, and don't be afraid of the dark." [livejournal.com profile] takhallus guessed You'll Never Walk Alone from Carousel.
10. "I never loved nobody fully; always one foot on the ground." [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got Fidelity, Regina Spektor.
11. "Well, my friends do me so right. I'm lucky this far or maybe it's karma."
12. "Go away from my window. Leave at your own chosen speed." [livejournal.com profile] takhallus guessed It Ain't Me Babe. I was actually listening to the Joaquin Phoenix version where he's pretending to be Johnny Cash.
13. "Does green mean stop or go? Is plastic good to eat? Should I put a hat on my head or on my feet?"
14. "I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends." [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got Lithium, Nirvana.
15. "Some said the local lake had been enchanted. Others said it must have been the weather." [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got Genius Next Door, Regina Spektor
16. "I'm [song title]. God, how can this be, playing with my memory?" [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat got Under Your Spell from Once More, With Feeling (the Buffy musical)
17. "Cuz he gets up in the morning, and he goes to work at night, and he comes back home at 5:30. Gets the same train every time."
18. "See these eyes so green? I can stare for a thousand years. Colder than the moon. It's been so long." [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got Cat People, David Bowie
19. "Broken pieces, break into me. So imperfectly what you should be."
20. "Alors tu vois, comme tout se mele. Et du coeur a tes levres, je deviens un casse
-tête."
21. "I can't breathe. I can't breathe. As I try to make it right, but you won't let me."
22. "I took the Polaroid down in my room. I'm pretty sure you have a new girlfriend."
23. "[song title], but I love him. Breaks a new heart every day." [livejournal.com profile] takhallus guessed He's a Tramp by Peggy Lee
24. "Color me your color, baby. Color me your car. Color me your color, darling." [livejournal.com profile] takhallus guessed Call Me, Blondie.
25. "Amber called her uncle, said 'We're up here for the holidays. Jane and I were having Solstice. Mow we need a place to stay.'" [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl got The Christians and the Pagans, Dar Williams
26. "She's not a girl who misses much. Do do do do do do. Oh yeah."
27. "One evening as the sun went down and the jungle fire was burning, down the track came a hobo hiking, and he said, 'Boys, I'm not turning.'" [livejournal.com profile] maireadinish got Big Rock Candy Mountain, which is by many people, but in this instance by Harry McClintock on the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack
28. "Nkosi sikelel'i Afrika. Maluphakanyisw' uphondo lwayo. Yizwa imithandazo yethu. Nkosi sikelela, thina lusapho lwayo."
29. "I was lying on the grass of Sunday morning of last week, indulging in my self-defeat." [livejournal.com profile] strickens_girl got Steal My Sunshine, Len
30. "I'll wager a hat full of guineas against all the songs you can sing that someday you'll love, and the next day you'll lose, and winter will turn into spring."
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Adrian and Milo: Slumber Party)
I have been sleepy all week, because of not-being-home-to-sleep type problems. Therefore, I must have a meme (stolen from [livejournal.com profile] perdiccas and [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl:

Post a picture or video in the comments you think describes me. Leave no explanation. Post this in your journal. Profit! :)

Whee!

In other news, I am striving to finish my last [livejournal.com profile] hope_in_sight fic before I leave for vacation next week. Also, I should probably start on my remix... Fic ahoy!
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (ST: McCoy - where's the porn?)
This end-of-year writing meme inspired by [livejournal.com profile] folkhore!

This has been a pretty prolific year for me, writing-wise. I’ve found new life in my old fandom, branched out into a new fandom and dabbled in a few others. I’ve written some new pairings (Sylar/Luke, Kirk/McCoy/Spock), explored new depravities (thanks, kink memes!), and sold myself for charity. I’ve gotten to know my old LJ friends better, and made new friends as well. Here’s what I did:

I wrote a lot of stories about men having sex with each other. )

I'll take "ways to waste time while I should be writing my [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang fic" for $200, Alex.

I'm doing the icon meme again. You can't stop me. [livejournal.com profile] perdiccas gave me six icons, and I'm supposed to explain their significange. If you wanna play, comment with "Icons yay!" or something to that effect. I pick out six of yours, you post on your journal with your descriptions, and the meme goes on and on.

Bring on the meme! )
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (ST: Kirk - Once and future captain)
It's a Saturday night, and I'm at home preparing for rehearsal (woohoo, the life I lead!), and I just remembered back when [livejournal.com profile] takhallus put up this meme, which I never properly followed up on. So here's the deal. I tell you about five icons [livejournal.com profile] takhallus prompted me with. You post letting me you know you want to play, and I'll choose five of your icons. Then post on your journal with explanations about your five, and we spread the icon glee! Punch it.

Now for mine. [livejournal.com profile] takhallus chose many of my texty ones! I love words!

by [livejournal.com profile] katie821
The text is a line from the poem The Old Astronomer to His Pupil by Sarah Williams. The line that completes this couplet is "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night." It's a lovely poem, and to me it hints at Sylar's potential for redemption. Plus Sylar looks totally bad-ass in that scene.

by [livejournal.com profile] jessiesgarden.
This is from A Midsummer Night's Dream, Act III, Scene ii. It's spoken by Puck, who's a mischievous fairy errand-boy. Adam is certainly all about manipulating people's lives. And if he'd had the power to do so, I'm certain he would have had no qualms about turning Hiro into a donkey.

by [livejournal.com profile] pyooma
These are both icon'd forms of the Star Trek GQMF macros. These things made me laugh so damn hard after seeing the movie... They can mostly be found here. Also, Chekov is a bad-ass. Dude's a genius, don't forget it. Also, don't talk about Spock's mama. He'll choke a bitch.

by [livejournal.com profile] angel_elf_icons.
Moar Shakespeare plz! The text is a quote from Hamlet, Act I, Scene iv, when Hamlet first seems his father's ghost (oops, spoiler alert, the ghost is Hamlet's father!). McCoy is totally the one going, "We're all gonna die, damnit," so I think this quote suits him.

Yay, that was fun! Now tell me if you wanna play, cuz I wanna hear about your icons, too!
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (SPN: Sammy yea porn!)
I still have a couple dozen unanswered comments. I'll respond to them, I swear. Also on deck: editing my [livejournal.com profile] heroes_exchange fic, Syluke comment fic, Star Trek kink meme fic, more Kirk/Spock fic (this time with 70% more plot!), and Sweet Charity fic. Plus sleeping, work, and real life. Pshaw.

Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] speccygeekgrrl. It's like a shameless, customizable kink meme...Kinda!

If you want to play, it works like this:
1. Visit the master list, select your favorite 100
2. Post your favorite 100 behind a cut in your LJ (or if you can’t pick 100, as many as you can without going over)
3. Your f-list’s job is to write you “comment pr0n” for your favorites. (Or if you can't decide, try picking a random number and challenging yourself!)
Bolded for extra-special favorites ♥

I likes mai kink dirty )
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Adam: Lord what fools)
I like icons! Well, the Russian sacred art kind, too, but mostly the LJ kind! )
brighteyedjill: Bones is pensive (Nathan: You got a problem?)
I meme, therefore I am: Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence! And I proceed to cheat a little on the only one sentence rule...

Cut for the dirty bad wrong porn-in-progress. )
Heh heh. I has many irons in the fire.

Meme yoinked form Lana and [livejournal.com profile] capn_mactasitc, because I’m procrastinating on my [livejournal.com profile] heroes_bigboom story, and I feel like I haven’t posted something in 4evah.

Jill talks about herself, although mostly not in the third person )
