Meme: Works in Progress

brighteyedjillI meme, therefore I am: Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence! And I proceed to cheat a little on the only one sentence rule...
1. Nathan pulled out his wallet, peeled off a handful of bills, shoved it at the scruffy man, and said, “I need him for the whole night."
2. Eager, appraising eyes raked Peter, and he was momentarily glad of his escort.
3. Peter tied the last piece of red ribbon carefully around Sylar's wrist and pulled at the end to make sure it was snug before sitting back on his heels to admire his handiwork.
4.This close, Adam could see how fine the man's weapon was: not as exquisite a masterpiece as his old sword, to be sure, but still a damn sight finer than anything made in the last century or so.
5. Peter sank back to his hands and knees. From that position, he looked across the room again, at Sam sprawled magnificently on his throne, and felt a sick, delicious thrill shoot through him as he began to crawl.
6. Nathan watched as the young man scrubbed his wet hands through close-cropped hair before re-fastening his helmet, emblazoned with the red cross that marked him as a medic.
7. "I could step in and rummage through your memories, just like digging through the garbage," Arthur said. "All your pretty passions, your rebellions, your little hero's crusades, your friends...your lovers. I could pick through it all and rip your mind apart to find out what I want, but I won't do that, Peter."
8. "You can’t walk into Peter’s life, flash that sad little smile, those big innocent eyes, put your hands all over him like a whore, and expect me not to notice," Nathan snarled. "Maybe Bennet let you get away with that kind of behavior, but I see right through you.”
9. "Gabriel." Sylar snaps his name, and they're both still for a moment. When Peter opens his eyes, they're staring at each other, standing over him like two dogs fighting over a bone.
10. "This is just a small sample, of course," Linderman said with a smile. "There is other, more...explicit footage."
