Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for. The master post for our [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang epic.

Title: My Brothers' Keepers
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat and [livejournal.com profile] brighteyed_jill
Art: by [livejournal.com profile] xkelorosiamano is at her graphics community. It is awesome. Go take a look. Lots of goodies.
Fandom: Heroes and Supernatural
Pairings: Every combination of Nathan and Peter Petrelli and Sam and Dean Winchester
Rating: NC-17
Warning: Consensual incest, dubcon(ish), orgies, demons, demon-possession, violence, language, mind-control, angst, going straight to hell (literally), and non-chronological narrative structure.
Word count 60,000ish
Spoilers: Supernatural Season 4, pre "On the Head of a Pin," very vague Season 2 spoilers for Heroes.
Authors' notes: Beta'd by [livejournal.com profile] redandglenda, who rocks our socks off. Written for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang. This is a sequel to The Secret's in the Telling. Prior knowledge of that story is encouraged, but not necessary for your enjoyment here. If you haven't read it, here's the gist: Dean and Sam were thrown together with Peter and Nathan Petrelli, two brothers with unusual secrets, to track down a demon that was threatening them both. In the course of the investigation, they learned that they weren't the only evil-fighting brothers with a (ehem) close relationship.
Summary: Sam and Dean discover demons have been possessing people with special abilities that have nothing to do with magic. Peter draws a future that reunites him and Nathan with the Winchester brothers. Together they find out that specials--people whose powers come from an unusual inherited gene-- are being targeted for possession by a woman who is on the verge of breaking one of the sixty-six seals.

Author's Notes (the long version)

I've never collaborated on a fic before. And in fact, I can be kind of bossy. So [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat deserves all the props in the world for a) wanting to play in the world of Secret's in the Telling, b) being flexible enough to cater to my control-freak-ness and c) bringing all sorts of awesome ideas to the table. Look kids, cooperating is fun!

In fact, [livejournal.com profile] jaune_chat had mentioned to me sometime ago that she had a plot bunny for continuing the universe of The Secret's in the Telling. It seemed a shame, said she, to waste a perfectly good setup of Winchester and Petrelli crossover. However, we both have a lot of other fic irons in the fire, so the project languished a few months. When it came time for [livejournal.com profile] sncross_bigbang we had the excuse (and the kick in the ass) we'd been waiting for. I signed us up. Then panicked.

As you may know from reading previous stuff of mine, I tend to write things not at all in order. I'll scribble down scenes as they come to me. In this case, when another author was involved, it was hard to keep track of the logic of the plot and the arcs of the characters when we were both writing different parts. Eventually we put together a wiki where we could post scenes as we wrote them and make our own notes on things like character arcs, continuity, and existing canon from both the show and Secret's in The Telling. (Look, Heroes writers, we cared about consistency!) The wiki turned out to be amazingly useful, and I'm so glad we took the time to keep ourselves organized that way.

We outlined the story on the wiki until the skeleton of a story emerged. There were many late-night phone calls and frenzied G-chat sessions. We both wrote during our work day (or night) and transcribed stuff to the wiki as we were able, which sometimes led to repetition or total confusion. My favorite instance of this is a scene that we actually cut, but we both wrote Peter as teleporting to the hospital where he did his nursing internship, since it was the most familiar place he could think of in a bind. Similar wavelengths, we has them.

Once the bulk of the story was sequenced on the wiki, we moved it to a shared Google doc so we could see where the holes were. We patched, shifted, and cut from there. We stayed on the phone together and talked through edits. [livejournal.com profile] redandglenda beta'd her little heart out and told us what needed fixin'. [livejournal.com profile] xkelorosiamano showed us drafts of her art, and we started to get really excited.

So here's the result. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed working on it. Hooray Big Bang!

Art

Have I mentioned yet how awesome the art is? You may have already seen the banners for each part, but there's more! Posters and icons and more banners! Oh my! Seriously, [livejournal.com profile] xkelorosiamano deserves mad props for the lovely art, so go check it all out and tell her how awesome she is.

Bonus Features

There's a whole mess of stuff that didn't quite make it into the final version. This includes deleted scenes and also... an orgy.

Hi, I know this is a long shot but do you by any chance have a single file version that you'd be willing to email me at amalthia at gmail.com? Your story looks very interesting and I'd love to read it.

I'm okay with html or word doc.

Hello? Um...I left a comment in the master post for "Secret's"? I was wondering if you could possibly send a copy of that single file my way? Please?

email: sylumdoc at gmail dot com. I'm planning on a long plane trip next month and I'm collecting stories to read on the plane. I have "Secret's", and I'd love to have this one as well. It was the synopsis of *this* story that made me want to read that one. And I'm not even into 'Heroes'!

thank you!!

OMFG. This was incredible! You girls deserve all the internet cookies in the world. I'm in a real flap now...what to do? Do I litter every chapter with comments (which I'd love to do, because each one was fantastic), and then commit you to have to answer every one of them? No, for now I'm going to spread some glee at the epilogue chapter.

Loved it!!!

I've already left a comment with the Epilogue, but darn it,I just have to say more!

This fic has totally, not just made my day,or my week, but my YEAR so far. That might sound corny, but I'm not kidding.I went through some tough times since mid last year, and during those times, good fanfics were the only things that kept my mind off the shitty stuff. So this, this just made me feel nice - reminded me of the good old times when I could sit here 'till the wee hours in the morning, cussin' Peter for being a twit sometimes, wishing Nathan was still like this in the series itself, and just wanting to eat Dean up!

So yeah, what I'm trying to say,is thank you.Thank you for writing this.Thank you for going through all that trouble to give us few readers this.It means A LOT to us.

Oh,and I just have to add,it's been having me giggling every now and then, all day:"...this Mo-whatsis dude...?" Classic Dean, right there!Priceless!

I hear you dearheart! Reading really helps me through bad times, because I know that even if I'm having a bad day, there's someone in a story that's either having a worse day than I am (so I can feel superior) or having a really fantanstic day (so I can live vicariously through them).

"Mo-whatsis!" Hee hee! Yeah, that's a good one. It's so hard to NOT give Dean all the funny lines sometimes, because he pulls them off so WELL!

*hugs you* Thanks so much, dear. Fanfic can be a good tonic for tough times. Especially when there are hot brothers involved. Oh, good memories of twit!Peter and political!Nathan! Anyway, I'm so glad to hear this meant something to you. Makes the writing all worthwhile. :D
